About Julia and the Unexpecteds

Julia and the Unexpecteds is a hard working group of great musicians always trying to expand genres, as heard on the first album All I Want. This album includes the work of songstress Julia Brochey, Willie Koenig on percussion, Richard Mikel on bass, Lucian Rowland on guitar and various strings, Bruce Harris on trumpet, and artist Steve Hoke on violin.

Julia is a singer/songwriter who began writing poetry and singing as a child. She has been writing music and playing guitar for about five years. Recently, she began playing mountain dulcimer and has written several songs using it as the primary instrument. Additionally, she is picking up harmonica; anything to fuel her writing. Having lived in every region of the country, her influences are broad. She has been described as having a folky, jazzy, country, and sultry 1920's quality. Because of that, she loves to have various sounds within the band, and continue to stir things up.

Cont'd from other column
Most recently, she has been playing with trumpet goddess Catie Rogers. Also, SHE IS SO EXCITED to now be playing with Jeremy Facknitz as well as reconnecting with Lucian Rowland on strings and Richard Mikel on bass. With a new CD in the works, she is working with many new sounds and some FUN and talented musicians. Look for the new music in the winter of 2007.

MEET
JOE UVEGES

Joe Uveges has meandered the
path of quiet musical anonymity on Colorado's front range for more than 18 years now. Raised a farm kid in Schoharie New York, pummeled by liberal academics at Union College and Catholic University, a grizzled veteran of bar bands and coffeehouses, he should be a burned out skeleton of a man playing Allman Brother covers, tipping lukewarm Coors from a can, and lamenting broken marriages and illegitimate kids. He is not.

Visit Joe's Web site for the rest of the story.

Better still visit Joe himself in our wonderful setting in Old Colorado City. In a House concert like you've never before experienced before.

"Joe writes songs, with one eye on Truth, one eye on human brokenness,
a smile on his face, and laughter in his soul. All of these muses shine forth
in his live performances winning not only fans but friends."

Rob Gordon
The Society for the Promotion of Live Music in Small Venues

Dave German
Lead Vocals, Electric and Acoustic Guitar, Dobro
During Dave's Denver days he also played lead guitar for Sonny & Cher, Glen Campbell, and Freddy Cannon on their Midwest tours in 1965. Dave joined the Army on a four-year enlistment in 1966 and was out of the music scene until 1970.

Currently, however, Dave is busy writing songs and working together with Rich to make BadDogs a household name (at least where the music is concerned) here in the USA.

Rich Currier
Lead Vocals, Pedal Steel Guitar, Electric and Acoustic Guitar
Rich leans towards acoustic folk and early rock & roll. Rich has played blues lead guitar for local bands and has played guitar and pedal steel at several Colorado Springs' venues.

Richard's career was strongly influenced by the Beatles, Crosby, Stills & Nash, country music, Blues & Rock and Roll. Early in his career he played solo, duos & with bands in the Atlanta area. His music career is complimented by his technical knowledge of stringed instruments. He has repaired and restored instruments for 26 years and continues this work in Colorado.
